Information on changes to the BBC Red Button service on Freeview from Tuesday 27 October 2009.

High-definition TV is coming to Freeview.  As part of this development, the BBC is decommissioning two interactive streams from Tuesday 27 October 2009.

Freeview viewers will no longer see the BBC News Multiscreen and one of the interactive streams (302) which mainly carries sport, music and entertainment events.  However, viewers will still be able to see content from these genres on the Red Button service via BBC channels and the remaining interactive stream (301).

Big events such as the Olympics, Wimbledon and Glastonbury remain a priority for the BBC and will still be made available on Freeview.

BBC News Channel provides frequent summaries of the day's main stories and weather updates, whilst News Multiscreen video can also be found via BBC Online.

BBC Red Button will still bring you all the latest news, sport and weather digital text information on-demand.

More details on these changes can be found on the Press Red blog.
