What is the Podcast Extended Availability Trial?

The BBC is running a trial from October 2009 to December 2009 to assess the impact and value of making podcast episodes available beyond 7 days.

A range of 30 BBC podcasts series, listed below, have been chosen to represent the portfolio.

Over the three month period episodes associated with the podcasts taking part in the trial will not be deleted. The list of available episodes will accumulate during the three months, and you will be able to download any of them. (Note: The podcast pages initially show a maximum of ten episodes.  If more than ten are available, click on the green ‘Show all episodes' link to view the complete list.)

At the end of the trial these podcasts will revert to the normal seven-day window of availability, and the episodes which have accumulated over the three months will disappear.  If you have downloaded any of these they will still be yours to keep forever.

The findings of the trial will be assessed early in 2010.
