Does BBC HD broadcast in 1080i or 720p?

The BBC HD channel currently transmits programmes using the 1080i standard. In the early days of HD technology the two standards were developed to overcome different technical problems in making and transmitting HD programmes. All 'HD Ready' equipment can handle both standards.
